Anyway, I thought I would get a head start on my FMP over the Summer. I have decided that it will be about Erik The Red. Erik The Red was a Viking from late 900AD.
A brief history:
Erik the red was born in Norway, his father, Thorvald Asvaldsson was exiled
from Norway for manslaughter; Erik grew up in Iceland. Thorvald's great uncle was
Naddodd. Naddodd was an Faroese
Viking who was born in Norway. He was the first Viking to discover and settle
Iceland, after the Irish monks; who only used it as a retreat - no permanent Irish settlement has been found.
Years later Erik himself was placed under exile for three years for various
crimes committed in 982. Erik gathered a small group of settlers from Iceland.
They set out for a voyage of discovery. Erik explored Greenland for three
years, settling in different areas each Winter. Erik gave Greenland its name to
lure explorers away from Iceland and settlers to Greenland.
For our Summer task, we needed to come up with at least three ideas. I had four in total, but I decided that the idea was too weak. This idea was "The Bremen Town Musicians". This is a German folklore, the one where the dog stands on the donkey, the cat stands on the dog and the cockerel stands on the cat... you probably know of it.
Another idea was The tale of the 13 Icelandic Yule Lads. One for the 13 days prior to Christmas. Please click the image to see more information.
And finally... yes... the mushroom ninjas and pirate potatoes are returning again. This would be a retelling of my original animation from college. I love these characters and I would like to do a lot more with them. I won't re-post the animation as it was posted on my first entry on here.
